Neighborhood Natural Area Network

Neighborhood Natural Area Network

Many natural areas are located near residential areas in and around cities. These natural areas, in combination with nearby residential areas, can be managed to provide habitat for a variety of wildlife species and also conserve natural resources such as water and energy. The goals of the Neighborhood Natural Area Network is 1) to raise awareness about the value of these natural areas and important connections between nearby yards and neighborhoods and 2) to improve communication and management actions among residents in order to increase the biological integrity of residential and natural areas, conserving both wildlife habitat and natural resources and providing opportunities to view wildlife.

Periodically, restoration, iNaturalist, or education events will be held in neighborhoods, parks, or with community groups in the network. If interested in being notified about these events, please contact Dr. Mark Hostetler (hostetm@ufl.edu) and send him your email address.
